Kid Ink – new mixtape – Wheels Up
LA Producer-turned-Rapper is back with another free mixtape for your listening pleasure. If you recall, his last mixtape Daydreamer was well received by the RapsLatest.com crew. This mixtape different, and unfortunately not as awesome as the prior, but it still has a select amount of solid tracks.
The Kid obviously has an ear for beats; the production on this tape is great. The hard part is listening to such great beats accompanied with below-average lyrics.
The only reason I gave songs #10, 11, & 12 one star is because of the beat. For example, the chorus for the song “Tuna Roll” is “niggas know I’m raw, tuna roll.”
That’s the chorus. Seriously. That could be the worst rap lyric in 2011.
Lyrics aside, the mixtape isn’t a total wash, and the starred songs are worth checking out. Kid Ink is still a budding star, and with time and practice, his lyrics and his already legit production skills will improve.
