He is set to drop his first ever Rock-Rap album titled Rebirth on February 1st, 8 days before he goes to jail to serve a 1-year sentence for felony gun possession. This mixtape from the So Cal group Pacific Division was critically acclaimed as one of the hottest of the year. The Pac Div has somewhat of an old school hip-hop sound while at the same time featuring hard hitting beats and 3 obviously talented MC’s. This mixtape, produced by Don Cannon, was another refreshingly funky electro drop by the duo from the Midwest. Nerdy, unimpressed and keen on their hip electronic teenage slang, this tape is also featured some more mello party tracks for the older crowd.  Always entertaining and masterfully produced, The Cool Kids mixtape Gone Fishing notches the number six best mixtape of ’09.

This was certainly the second best Weezy mixtape of ’09, featuring some of his hottest songs from the first half of the year. For example, Every Girl, Murk Off, Always Strapped, and Ay Man probably all among Wayne’s top 10 songs of the year. It made our top 10 list of mixtapes at number seven.

This Gangsta Grillz mixtape is a solid release from G-Unit member Tony Yayo. DJ Drama really outdid himself on this one, the beats and production quality of this tape is outstanding, with many southern sounding influences and terrific samples. Yayo’s tone throughout the tape is brutally honest. When he is talking about drugs, murdering, or partying, you can tell that he is really on that shit everyday. That’s why he and Drama make our list at #10 best mixtape of 2009.
