Curren$y da Hot Spitta is at it again with another great mixtape released in celebration on the Saints Super Bowl victory. With fantastic beats, and production by the just-as-consistent DJ Don Cannon, this mixtape by Weezy’s protege has got us pumped for more. Curren$y has an album due in 2010 titled The Grand Scheme of Things, as well as another project with Wiz Khalifa. Stay posted for those drops.

This is a fantastic mix of Clipse lyrics over some great beats by DJ Critical Hype. One of the true signs of great lyricism is the ability to take a rapper’s acapella verses and mix them over other beats without their rhymes losing any impact. Jay-Z and Wayne are two in that category, and this tape by Critcal Hype goes to show that Clipse belong in that same class.

This Gangsta Grillz mixtape is a solid release from G-Unit member Tony Yayo. DJ Drama really outdid himself on this one, the beats and production quality of this tape is outstanding, with many southern sounding influences and terrific samples. Yayo’s tone throughout the tape is brutally honest. When he is talking about drugs, murdering, or partying, you can tell that he is really on that shit everyday. That’s why he and Drama make our list at #10 best mixtape of 2009.
